TURBINE TANNING SYSTEMS... Chief-Tan offers turbine as well as airbrush systems. The newer turbine technology simply brings the best delivery system to date, to an industry that is rapidly evolving in exciting new directions. This system employs a very compact yet powerful turbine unit that is a little larger than the small compressors and is somewhat more efficient in terms of the volume, and hence speed, than the smaller airbrush system. NON-HVLP Note: There are guns that are made to resemble the HVLP guns that use compressed air and are not rated for HVLP. This is a case of something that looks the same while it is a completely different animal. It is better to just buy an airbrush if you are not buying a high quality, HVLP gun. |
| The spray pattern of the larger turbine gun differs from the airbrush. The airbrush uses a smaller more explosive pressure action. The turbine sprayer is powdered by a turbine system with a hose that is approximately six times the diameter of the airbrush hose. It forces a rapidly moving large volume of air into a sophisticated gun that in turn atomizes an infinitely larger volume of solution to the skin in a perfectly patterned fine mist reducing overspray. To compare the two systems, we would say that the turbine sprayer is to an airbrush what a powered paint roller is to a smaller paint brush in terms of speed and coverage. But don't let this power intimidate you. After a couple of tests with our manufacturer, we quickly adapted and were rapidly alternating between large and smaller more defined strokes with the same gun! | |
